The two existing bedrooms were completely remodeled, and a new bathroom was added to better suit the needs of a growing family. New windows throughout, custom tile work, and a sleek walk-in shower brought functionality and freshness to the upper floor.

The primary bathroom underwent a complete transformation, now featuring a slab-wall steam shower and a striking full-wall wave-textured marble tile installation that anchors the spa-like retreat.

Hillside Cottage Expansion | West Marin, California
This project transformed a compact cottage into a more livable and luxurious retreat with the addition of a new primary bedroom and ensuite bathroom designed specifically for the homeowners.
Built on a steep hillside, the project came with significant structural challenges — including the need to drill multiple 14-foot-deep concrete piers to stabilize the new addition. Despite the difficult site access and complex engineering requirements, we successfully expanded the footprint while preserving the charm and scale of the original structure.
Inside, the space is wrapped in custom-milled redwood paneling, offering a warm, natural feel that reflects the surrounding landscape. The new suite blends seamlessly with the existing cottage while enhancing functionality and comfort for everyday living.
This project highlights our expertise in navigating difficult terrain and delivering custom craftsmanship in tight and challenging conditions.

Upstairs, we relocated the laundry to optimize space, allowing for the expansion of one of the bedrooms. An existing bathroom was also fully renovated with updated finishes and fixtures, bringing cohesion and contemporary design to the top level of the home.
